Assalamu aleykum
Dear Muslim Brothers!
The Hungarian Islamic Community organises series of contests for secondary school pupils of Hungary in 2004, with the title: Who knows more about the Islamic world?
The organisation and arrangement will be helped by the Hungarian History Teacher's Association to ensure that the information of this quiz, the possibility of taking part and preparation for the contest will get to every single high school in Hungary.
The protectors of the program:
- the Libanese ambassador to Hungary, who is aswell the doyen of the Arabic Ambassador's Council here (authorised person to contact :00-36-20-365-3238).
- Mr. László Szászfalvi, president of the parlamentary comitee for religious affaires of the Parliament of the Hungarian Republic (authorised person to contact : 1-441-5033).
- Mr. Dr. Kálmán Gulyás secretary of state for religious affairs in the Hungarian prime minister's office (authorised person to contact: 1-441-2163).
Besides them, the Ministry of Education, Major of Budapest, and more politiciants from the parliament and local governments support the action.
Aim: Unfortunatelly, nowadays in the entire world, and so in Hungary, Islam often equals with terrorism in people's eyes due to the subjective disfigurement of the media.
How to change this wrong idea?
First of all, with the personal examplary of muslims, secondly with distancing ourselves from the - sadly existing- extrem waves.
Hungarian Islamic Community has invented a brand new objective way - Hungary and Europe wide - of introducing our religion.
We took aim at the scholars, since they are, no matter in which country they would be, the " great hopes of the future".
This way, such a contest, that involves the whole country and motivates for acquiringing information, could represent the real face of our peaceable religion.
Our motto: Quiz of a missunderstood, colorful Islamic world, it's past and present.
Topics of the contest: Religion, economy, history, geology, culture.
Regions of the contest: The Arab world, South-east Asia, Middle East (including Indian subcontinent), Turkey (Osman - turkish empire ), Black Africa, Europe.
The contest passes off three parts:
1. qualifyings
They will be hold in each 19 different shires of Hungary, plus in Budapest, the capital city. Only the winners of the twenty qualifying games will pass into the semifinals.
2. Semifinals
The semis will be split into two different places, in different times. The best five team gets into the final.
3. Final
Will be held in Budapest. Best five team.
Each team should consist of six members, who should develop the above listed regions and topics. Good teamwork will contribute to the preparation and results.
We are going to sign a contract with some representatives of the media who will broadcast and mediate the quiz for the population. During the first round, we think that the local papers will gain greater importance, since they cover the shires more.
We are going to sign a contract with a nationwide televison station and a nationwide cabel television network aswell. Daily newspapers and the radios will also broadcast.
Aspects in choosing the members of the jury:
They should be well proficient in the above listed topics and regions, possibly with some international prestige.
We wish the international islamic organisations would delegate authorities to help the work of the jury.
Interpreters will be assured.
Financial conditions:
Transportation of the pupils, teachers, organisers and members of the jury to the qualifyers, semis and final.
(6 million HUF\28570 USD)
Accomodation for each participant of the semifinals and final (2 million HUF\ 9523 USD).
Rent of the location, public-address system of the event etc...
Catering (2 million HUF\ 9523 USD)
Honor: books, certificates and travelling to islamic countries, proposing scholarship. (6 million HUF\ 28570 USD).
As you can see from the calculation, we would need about 80.000 USD to continue working on the detailed plan and organise the events.
Sponsors could delegate authorised people to the jury aswell as take part in every step of the organisation, so this way we could accomplish it together.
Unconventionally we account strictly with subsidy. Sponsors may send authorised people to Hungary to check- take part in preparation works.
Rrepresenting the Hungarian administration, protectors of the program guarantee the contest.
We are looking forward you taking part in this contest.
